Scientist I/II Molecular Biology

We are looking for highly self-motivated and innovative candidates to help develop and commercialize our novel technology.  Reporting to the Vice President of Biology, this candidate will make a significant impact on the formulation, design, and development of Fluent’s product portfolio. The candidate will be expected to take ownership of projects, plan and execute experiments, critically analyze data, and interpret results, mentor junior researchers, as well as work independently and collaboratively in small groups.
Requirements and desired experience:
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related field required

 

  • 2+ years of industry experience in applied research and/or development (post-doctoral work may serve as part of this experience)

 

  • Extensive expertise in Molecular Biology methods required (e.g. digital PCR, ddPCR, plasmid cloning, qPCR, NGS library preparation, nucleic acid extraction from blood, tissue, FFPE)

 

  • Significant experience designing PCR primers using open-source software, strong preference for multiplex primer design experience

 

  • Understanding of the fundamentals of sampling statistics and low frequency variant detection preferred

 

  • Strong background in genomics data analysis using statistical software packages including R or JMP is required

 

  • Hands-on molecular diagnostic product development experience in a Design

  • Control environment preferred but not required

 

  • Results-driven with the capacity to work with minimal supervision to effectively achieve goals on time

 

  • Aptitude to quickly assimilate new information, critically evaluate data, and efficiently communicate key takeaways

Research Associate I / II Molecular Biology

We are looking for a highly detail-oriented and motivated Research Associate to develop and commercialize our novel technology.   We anticipate that this candidate will make a significant impact on the formulation, design, and development of Fluent’s product portfolio.  The candidate is expected to work both independently and collaboratively in small groups.
Requirements and desired experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related fields preferred

 

  • 1+ years in the biotech industry is preferred. Recent graduates with excellent academic records and internship experience are encouraged to apply

 

  • Experience performing molecular biology assays and techniques required, including PCR and quantitative PCR

 

  • Familiarity with DNA analysis software like Primer 3

Research Associate II / III- Process Automation

We are looking for a highly detail-oriented and motivated Research Associate to develop and commercialize our novel technology.   We anticipate that this candidate will make a significant impact on the formulation, design, and development of Fluent’s product portfolio.  The candidate is expected to work both independently and collaboratively in small groups.
Requirements and desired experience:
  • Masters degree in Biomedical Science, Bioengineering or related fields preferred

 

  • 2+ years in the biotech industry is required

 

  • Must have technical knowledge of automation hardware and software related to biomolecular techniques. Experience must include hands-on experience with automation software and hardware, specifically automated liquid handling devices.

 

  • Experience running NGS applications on a range of automated liquid handler platforms such as Hamilton, TECAN, Beckman, Agilent, PerkinElmer, or Opentrons

 

  • Experience with 96-well/384-well plate assays and multi-channel pipetting required

 

  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) desired

  • Quality control testing experience desired

Technical Lead - Molecular Biology

We are looking for a highly self-motivated and innovative top-tier scientist with leadership experience to fill the critical role of Technical Lead, Molecular Biology. This individual will be responsible for strategic and technical leadership within Fluent’s R&D program with a hands-on lab-based leadership style. We are seeking a player-coach that is deeply involved in technical leadership at the ground-level. Reporting to the Vice President of Biology, the Technical Lead will manage all internal biology activities by providing leadership, strategic oversight, resource management, and the organizational framework to ensure product development proceeds according to internal timelines. This individual will identify, support, manage and develop talent among the team acting as a mentor to team members and ongoing coach for professional development. 
Requirements and desired experience:
  • PhD in Biomedical Science, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related field required

 

  • Only applicants with 3+ years of industry experience will be considered

 

  • Extensive knowledge of genomics technologies and molecular biology assay development with industry experience launching products in these areas 

 

  • Demonstrated history of technical leadership and management experience of cross-functional teams spanning biology, engineering and bioinformatics

Senior Bioinformatics Scientist

We are looking for highly motivated and innovative candidates with industry experience to be a leader on our Bioinformatics team. Reporting to the Vice President of Biology, this candidate will maintain and improve upon Fluent’s genomic analysis software. The candidate will be expected to proactively plan for the analysis of a variety of NGS data types and implement cutting edge analysis algorithms into proprietary software.  In this role, the candidate will drive the development of novel quantitative strategies to analyze NGS data. Successful candidates will be driven to produce high quality results, typified by a careful analytical approach that identifies potential confounders and sources of bias and should have a strong track record of reproducible analyses and pipeline development.
Requirements and desired experience:
  • PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, systems biology, computer science or related field with a minimum of 5 years experience (academia or industry)

 

  • Previous experience as a primary author of custom analysis software for single cell RNA-Seq analysis is required

 

  • Deep familiarity with existing single cell RNA-Seq pipelines, such as CellRanger, DropSeq, inDrops, etc.

 

  • Expert knowledge of best practices for single cell methods including imputation and data normalization, deconvolution, cell type/state analysis, cell to cell interaction/trajectory inference, reconstruction of cell type-specific interactomes, spatial transcriptomic analysis and visualization

 

  • Experience developing advanced computational methods for a variety of NGS data types is desired

 

  • Fluency in Linux and Linux system administration is required

  • Demonstrated ability to manage HPC and cloud computing environments such as AWS is desired

 

  • Experience with software version control tools (e.g. Git)

Field Application Scientist (FAS)

We are looking for a highly motivated and customer-oriented Field Application Scientist (FAS) to act as the technical point of contact for Fluent’s customers. Reporting to the Vice President of Product Management, we anticipate that the FAS will make a significant impact to our business as we accelerate adoption of our novel technology. Your work will ensure that customers are trained, supported and guided to use our products effectively for their application needs, as well as stay informed on the latest customer requirements and product capabilities in Fluent’s portfolio. The FAS is expected to work both independently and collaboratively in small groups (both virtually and in person) and be based in the Boston area.
Requirements and desired experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related fields

 

  • Ph.D. or equivalent preferred

 

  • 3+ years of experience (including graduate/postdoc work) in the biotech industry is preferred. 

  • Hands-on experience with NGS and/or single-cell workflows

  • Experience and/or ability to work with principal investigator-level scientists, bioinformaticians, and lab personnel

  • Demonstrated experience acting as a subject matter expert (SME) within the NGS space, ideally having led trainings on genomics, sequencing applications or other products

  • Single cell and customer-facing experience a plus

We are seeking an Administrative assistant to assist in a variety of support and business tasks. We are looking for assistance with office support, shipping, purchasing, invoicing and bookkeeping. Tasks include communicating with vendors by phone or email as well as data processing. Detail-orientation is a must. Friendly work environment.
Requirements and desired experience:
  • 2+ years experience in an administrative environment

 

  • Solid computer skills including spreadsheets and online tools. This job will require you to pick up and execute in new information technologies very rapidly.

 

  • Strong phone communication and negotiation skills, e.g. coordinating purchase with  vendors

 

  • Familiarity with scientific or medical terminology is a plus​​
